Suction and Delivery Tank added to Powder Tank Fleet Montgomery TankServices Limited

Montgomery TankServices Limited is pleased to announce an increase in our service offering with the addition of a Feldbinder suction and delivery tanker into the powder fleet.

A suction and delivery tanker enables product to be uplifted from customer’s silo and redelivered to another delivery point.

We have experienced considerable growth in our powder tanker movements in UK and Ireland over the last number of years and the introduction of this specialised tanker into our business enables us to offer a complete service solution to our customers.

We have found that silo evacuations are normally urgent, with this in mind the suction and delivery tanker will be based from our head office in Glengormley enabling a same day response for Ireland and a next day response to anywhere in UK.

Montracon have showcased it’s latest trailer designs, with an emphasis on health & safety, during an exhibition to the members of The Pallet Network (TPN).

The first trailer on show was the wrap around rear curtain trailer, in full TPN livery, designed for safe access to the full load length of the trailer, this allows the driver to remain in their cab during loading, and now becoming the preferred choice of most of the major pallet networks.

The second trailer was fitted with Montracon’s patented Retractostrap System. This system safely stores the load straps away in the roof of the trailer when not in use, and allows easy and safe securing of a load. This system can be easily retro-fitted into a curtainsider, and does away with roof mounted strapping systems.

In 2012, VOSA announced that they would be tightening up on load safety, particularly with curtainsided trailers, these rules are now being rigorously policed by VOSA at roadside checks, for more information see

Dr Locks picks another winner with Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport-X

A 100-yard test drive of a dynamic Vito Sport-X van was all it took to convince locksmith Jason Gould that Mercedes-Benz holds the key to long-term happiness at the wheel.

Jason, whose firm Dr Locks is based in Halesowen, West Midlands, had owned a string of Vito and Vito Sport models – but then bought another make of van.

“I fancied a change, and it was a nice vehicle,” he recalls. “But it very soon dawned on me that it just wasn’t a Mercedes-Benz. It lacked the quality and comfort of the Vito, and it didn’t have the ‘feel good’ factor I’d been used to.”

So Jason returned to his local Mercedes-Benz Dealer Midlands Truck & Van, where he was invited to take a quick spin in Managing Director Jon Divers’ ‘company car’, a fire-breathing Vito Sport-X.

“I’d scarcely left the forecourt before I realised that this was the van for me,” says Jason. “It really looks the part and the fact that it’s so quick makes it a real joy to drive. I dropped Jon’s van back at the dealership and ordered my own there and then.”

The Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport-X is powered by a smooth V6 engine that transmits its eye-watering 167 kW (224 hp) output to the road via a five-speed automatic transmission.

Its striking appearance owes much to renowned tuning and body styling specialist Brabus, which designed its 18-inch alloy wheels, customised front spoiler and chrome sidebars. Sport-X models also feature powerful bi-xenon headlamps with LED daytime driving lights – as well as enhancing the van’s appearance, these make an important safety contribution.

A former Birmingham City Council carpenter, Jason started his own business in 2005 after buying specialist tools and teaching himself to pick locks. The company was a success from day one and its expert team now provide an emergency 24-hour call out service, as well as offering bespoke security and alarm solutions.

Jason, who is renowned for his own skills as a locksmith and security consultant, uses his silver Vito Sport-X to visit commercial and domestic customers throughout the West Midlands and beyond.

He continues: “As well as having great performance, my Sport-X came with a huge array of active and passive safety systems, all fitted as standard. This, coupled with the manufacturer’s three-year, unlimited mileage warranty, is very reassuring.

“I’ve always received a great service from Midlands Truck & Van and have had the opportunity recently to do a bit of reciprocal work for the dealer, which was nice.”

You Can Rely On Us

Scania has launched a bold new advertising and promotional campaignYou Can Rely On Us entitled, ‘You Can Rely On Us’. The programme focuses on Scania’s UK senior management team – the Scania (Great Britain) Limited Executive Team and the Independent Managing Directors – with each member of the group pledging their support to customers with a personal promise to deliver the best possible service at all times.

The campaign marks a brave departure from conventional advertising by putting faces to the names, not only in the press adverts but also in a specially produced video which will feature on a dedicated internet micro-site.

“Our aim is to provide a customer experience which is truly second-to-none, and this campaign sets out to demonstrate and reinforce our commitment in a clear and unequivocal manner,” explains Scania (Great Britain) Limited Managing Director, Claes Jacobsson. “Every member of our UK management team has signed up to this goal and are now keen to see this message communicated the length and breadth of our industry.”

The campaign goes live week commencing 27 January, when the first advert will appear in Motor Transport magazine. Other publications on the schedule are Commercial Motor, Transport News (Scotland and the north of England) and Export & Freight (Northern Ireland).

From next Monday internet users can view the video and hear what the team has to say at

The final link in the chain is social media, which will be used extensively to promote the campaign to the widest possible audience. “In the same way that social media has a global reach, our ambition to deliver an outstanding customer experience knows no bounds either!” concludes Claes Jacobsson.
