A group of highly-skilled employees from the Trafford Park branch of commercial vehicle dealer West Pennine Trucks Limited has proven that Manchester's winning streak is not limited to its two Premier League teams by reaching the World Final of the Top Team competition organised by truck, bus and coach manufacturer Scania.
In doing so, the West Pennine Trucks team has risen above 1,000 others from around the globe and will now participate as one of ten finalists in the competition's grand finale, which takes place at the home of Scania in Sweden on 14-16 October 2011.
"As the region's authorised Scania dealer, we are absolutely delighted our guys have shown themselves to be right up there among the world's best," comments West Pennine Trucks Managing Director, Andrew Ward. "It is a fantastic reflection on the commitment and effort they
have put into the competition and in the true local traditions of Sir Alex Ferguson and Roberto Mancini we will now be supporting and encouraging them every step of the way as they prepare for the Final!"
The Scania Top Team competition sets out to promote the highest standards of commercial vehicle service by setting contestants a series of demanding technical challenges which have to be completed against the clock. In securing its place at the World Final, the West Pennine Trucks team won its heat by successfully completing a series of four practical exercises and a theoretical examination ahead of colleagues from nine other European nations.
The role call of honour for the West Pennine Trucks team is:
