Ballvesey Recycling Solutions Ltd which has been operational just over a
year recently achieved a first by loading their 1st ship for a continental steelworks. The ship was filled in Belfast Docks and the company loaded almost 1500 tons in 15 hours. The vessel was loaded with one of the recently acquired Tyrex 350 scrap handlers bought from Sleator Plant, another company within the Ballyvesey Group.
Depot Manager Joseph Monaghan said:
“In this type of operation The Tyrex 350 performed beautifully. We
needed a machine that was quick, dependable and capable of shifting this tonnage in a restricted time period. Normally we would containerise our material and so far have exported almost 200 containers to Far East destinations such as China and India. However the best market for the grade of material that we placed in the ship was Northern Europe.”
Ballyvesey Recycling hopes it will be the first of many ships that will be loaded and exported to steelworks where the complete cycle of metal recycling begins again.
